Emma Hicks Joins Connectr Profile Image

We’re delighted to welcome Emma Hicks CertIoD FLPI to Connectr who joins our team as Interim Chief Operating Officer.

And with a great new team member, comes a spotlight blog! Let’s find out more about our fabulous Interim COO.

Emma plays a key role on Connectr’s Board and Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for driving our ongoing rapid growth.

Working across all corners of Connectr, Emma will particularly focus on supporting our commercial strategy and success through optimising the impact we deliver to our partners and their people.

Strategic leadership expertise

Emma is a highly experienced strategic leader, specialising in learning and development at C-suite and senior management level. With a very strong track record for delivering solutions across a broad range of UK and global sectors and industries, we’re so excited to have Emma join us in scaling our impact to more and more candidates and employees across the country.

At Connectr, we understand the importance of meaningful development and progression strategies in driving people productivity and potential – and businesses’ overall success.

Emma is a fellow of the Learning Performance Institute (LPI), holds certifications from the  the Institute of Directors (IoD) and Association in Talent Development (ATD), and is a former Education Committee member at the European Confederations of Directors Association (ecoDa).

Before joining Connectr, Emma spent nearly 10 years with the Institute of Directors as Head of Professional Development, responsible for leading the strategic direction of the IoD’s global Professional Development offering.

Emma understands the power of technology to deliver meaningful impact and engagement and successfully led her team to transition all the IoD’s face-to-face programmes online in the early weeks of the pandemic.

A leader in powerful mentoring

What’s more, Emma shares our belief in the power of mentoring to shape the future careers of all talent, and has recently mentored students as part of the IoD’s 2021 and 2022 Enterprise Challenges.

Run in collaboration with Nottingham Business School, the programme enhances the entrepreneurial skills and employability of hundreds of students every year, through work experience and upskilling, to support them in taking their next career steps.

The students and a team of IoD members with the support and guidance of IoD volunteer mentors raised £7,205 for the John van Geest (JvG) Cancer Research Centre in 2021. The kind of news we love.

Emma’s own mentors include Gill White CDir, FloD, Chartered FCIPD and Charlotte Valeur. These relationships have spanned a number of years’ and have been incredibly valuable to Emma’s career progression, personal development and wellbeing.

Earlier career

Emma’s earlier roles with the IoD cover all corners of L&D including Head of Client Delivery, Head of Learning Programmes and Learning and Development Manager.

Emma also spent 5 years with Reed Learning as their Strategic Partnership Manager working with over 50 clients and external partners. During this time, Emma also designed and delivered learning programmes.

Outside of Connectr, Emma has a young family who keeps her equally busy and active.  Mentoring has played a powerful role in helping Emma navigate work/ life balance.

We’re delighted to have Emma join us in driving our mission forward. Find out more about Emma here.
